As we know that GSK Initiative focus on things that make positive difference in children lives most especially the vulnerable ones .The organization has intense passion for Orphans Vulnerable Children in our society, which bring about the Orphans Vulnerable Children(OVC) programme .
Orphans Vulnerable Children are set of children in our society who are orphan or whom parent are not financially buoyant to feed, clothe and cater for their essential needs.
To ensure that the welfare and wellbeing of this children who are our beneficiaries are properly in check, this make the organization comes up with empowering parents or care giver (mothers) of our Orphan and vulnerable children programme beneficiaries.
Today in our society, poverty rate is becoming so alarming to the extent that an average family are not able to feed their family thrice a day, let alone providing for the family needs which nearly impossible. We realise most children who are vulnerable lack access to some essential needs which is due to the fact that their parents are not engaged in any sustainable work that could improve the financial stability of the family.
Empowerment is the degree of autonomy and self-determination in people and in communities.
Empowerment to us refers to a situation where the powerless gain greater control over resources and ideologies.
Empowerment to us means action to the process of self-development and professional support of people, which enables them to overcome their sense of powerlessness and lack of influence, and to recognize and use their resources judiciously which enables them to represent their interests in a responsible and self-determined way, acting on their own authority.
Empowerment to us also means having financial power and control over own lives when People get the support they need which is right for them.
This process enable beneficiaries to increase their assets and attributes towards building capacities to gain access to resources in order to control their finances.
GSK Initiative resolved that helping the parents/ care giver of our beneficiaries will mean helping the children too.
Empowerment and Livelihood is specifically designed to empower parents of our beneficiaries and Youth at risk in our communities with equipment and entrepreneurial skills for a suitable means of livelihood. in most situation ,we realize that Most of the parents are not engaged in sustainable work that could improve the financial stability of the family.
At Global Initiative as part of our social responsibility to reduce poverty rate in the society through Family Support Programme (Empowerment/Livelihood) which proffer a means of sustainable financial stability for the parents.
This Family Support Programme empowered parent/ care giver of our ovc beneficiary to promote their social and economic development which will create a way for their children to achieve sustainable development in the future.
We believes that empowering women is an indispensable tool for advancing development and reducing poverty. There is no doubt that empowered women contribute to the health and productivity of whole families, communities and the nation
We do this through presenting them empowerment item such as grinding machine, sewing machine and other equipment we realize will be helping in developing their financial status, Also training and workshops are organize for them which Gsk Initiative ensures to support participants with start up capital for their businesses.
The purpose of this empowerment program is to improve the well-being of families as well as their vulnerable children and gives hope for better tomorrow to these children.
