In a heartfelt display of community support, on the 24TH day of October 2024, GSK initiative empowered Mrs. Anuoluwapo Ajeigbe, a resilient 34-year-old widow and a mother of four, with a multipurpose grinding machine. Additionally, Nimotalai Ajeigbe who is the second child of the family and now 12-year-old with a promising future received a scholarship to continue her education at Lisabi Grammar School, Idi – Aba, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The empowerment program which took place at No 22 &23, Trinity Complex, 124, Sokenu Road, Ijaiye, Abeokuta, Ogun State was graced by representative from the Ministry of Women Affairs Mr. Folorunso Adeola the welfare officer, Mr. Sodiq Abayomi the beneficiary witness, Mrs. Ajeigbe Anuoluwapo, and her daughter Nimotalai, alongside the staff of the organization.
The presentation of a grinding machine to Mrs. Anuoluwapo Ajeigbe and also the scholarship letter along with educational materials to Nimotalai was handled by Mr. Folorunso Adeola who stood in for the honorable commissioner for Women Affairs and social development for Ogun state.
Mrs. Anuoluwapo’s journey to the initiative began with a referral by a good spirited community actor. Mrs. Ajeigbe who lives with her four children in Adebayo Ajebo Road, Abeokuta, was faced with significant hardship following the death of her husband in 2023, who was the sole provider for the family. Mrs. Ajeigbe Struggled to make ends meet through menial jobs and she could barely provide for the family’s basic needs, including her children’s education. After hearing about their situation, GSKi initiated a home tracing to assess the family conditions. Following this, the Executive Director of GSKi approved that Nimotalai be brought into the scholarship scheme of the organization and that her mother should be empowered with a Grinding machine, for her to be able to provide for the welfare of her 4 children.
The organization ensured that all that were required by the school were provided for and the follow up at school very regular solidifying the of Nimotali path to academic success.
