GSK INITIATIVE BACK TO SCHOOL 2024 EDITION

Global Support for kids Initiative organized ‘back to school’ programme with the theme: “supporting children through education” for 50 beneficiaries on September 3rd and 11th, 2024 at Ministry of Women Affairs Conference room, Oke mosan, Abeokuta, Ogun state, and Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The ‘back to school’ 2024 edition was aimed at supporting indigent children in 4 local governments in Egba central and Ado local government. Relieve materials such as school bags, notebooks, pen, socks, school uniforms, and school sandals were distributed. This was achieved through the collaborative efforts of both Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Women Affairs.

The executive director and President GSKi Mr. Opeyemi Olowookere in his speech acknowledged the efforts of the state Governors of both Ekiti and Ogun states in the area of Education. He admonished the beneficiaries to be focused and he said these materials should inspire them to learn, grow and achieve their dreams. He also made them understand that our organization is committed to bridging the educational gap and creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

The Director of Education, Education support services Department, Ministry of Education Ogun state, Mrs. Akinola Okereafor O.M. and Mrs. Olugbenga Agbeyo deputy director of standard & evaluation department Ministry of Education Ekiti state, also highlighted the efforts of GSK initiative in giving back to the society. They advised the beneficiaries to be of good conducts and also advised the parents/guardians to take proper care of their wards.

The Directors Ministry of Women affairs and social development Mrs. Ajala Adenike and Mrs. Bolanle Asubiojo in their admonitions praised the president/executive director of GSKi for his persistence and resilience towards ensuring that the children attain greater heights in life.

In the same vein, Mr. Adebayo Fashina, deputy director and migration desk officer from Ministry of women affairs and child development and Mr Rotimi Adaramodu a social worker and lecturer from College of Health Science Ijero advised the children to see this as an opportunity to move forward in life without hesitation.

The beneficiaries ably represented by Sunday Olaifa, and Modupe Salami appreciated the initiative on behalf of their fellow beneficiaries, parents/guardians and also prayed for the organization, the members of staff and the founder.
