GSKi Strengthens Partnership with NSCDC Gender Uniton Child Welfare in Ekiti

On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, Global Support for Kids Initiative (GSKi) has
reaffirmed its commitment to child welfare and protection through a
courtesy visit to the Gender Department of the Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps (NSCDC) Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
During the visit, GSKi staff met with officers of the Gender Unit, including
DSC Adeyemo, ASC1 Faniyi Tope, ASC1 Oke Oriyomi, and ASC2 Ajisafe
Mathew Adelaja. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on past
collaborations, particularly the 2025 joint efforts addressing the welfare of
street-connected children, while exploring new avenues for partnership.
DSC Adeyemo expressed appreciation for GSKi’s for the advocacy visit,
noting that the Gender Unit plays an active role in the Gender-Based
Violence Committee chaired by Ekiti state Governor’s wife. She welcomed
further collaboration, especially in tackling child welfare cases.
Key discussions centred around sensitization programmes for schools and
communities, focusing on issues such as rape, and other forms of abuses
and child labour. The Gender Unit expressed interest in organizing
sensitization activities in May 2026, ahead of the Children’s Day
celebration.
GSKi’s Grant/Finance Manager highlighted the organization’s ongoing
programmes in schools and market places, designed to enlighten children,
parents, and guardians on child protection. The Child Protection Officer
reinforced this commitment, encouraging the Gender Unit to reach out
whenever support is needed.
ASC2 Ajisafe Mathew Adelaja commended GSKi’s initiative and expressed
optimism about future collaborations. The meeting concluded with a
shared pledge to strengthen synergy between GSKi and NSCDC’s Gender
Unit in addressing child welfare challenges across Ekiti State.
