Ekiti State Police Officers from the Juvenile Welfare Center (JWC) Unit of Okesha Division, Ado Central, paid a courtesy visit to GSKi Nigeria’s Ekiti Office on Wednesday, 25th March 2026.

The visit, which aimed to strengthen the working relationship between the police and the child-focused organization, also served as an opportunity for the GSKi team to familiarize themselves with the new officers at the unit.

Led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) AriyoFolake, the delegation included ASP S.A. Onuche, ASP Babalola Ayo, ASP Oluwatosin Olaifa, and Inspector Isichei Linda.

During the meeting, the police officers commended GSKi Nigeria for its longstanding commitment to improving the lives of children generally. They expressed appreciation for the organization’s efforts and called for continued synergy and partnership.

Responding on behalf of GSKi Nigeria, the Country Director Mr. Akingbade Soleye highlighted the organization’s major achievements since its establishment in 2003. He briefed the officers on GSKi’s key thematic areas and specifically sought the JWC Unit’s support in the protection of children living in street situations and youth at risk. Mr. Soleyeemphasized the need for prompt police response to cases involving children and reassured the officers that GSKi’s office remains open to provide intervention and support whenever such cases are reported.

In a strong message against indiscriminate arrests, the Country Director stated:” Living in the street is not an offence, but our activities on the street can be.” He urged the officers to move away from unlawful arrests and raids of children, advocating instead for a more protective and rehabilitative approach. The meeting featured an interactive session during which the visiting officers asked several questions, and the GSKiteam provided detailed clarifications. The visit ended on a cordial note with a vote of thanks from both the police officers and GSKi staff. This engagement is expected to pave the way for more effective collaborations in safeguarding the rights and welfare of vulnerable children in Ekiti State.
