In a heartfelt display of community support, on the 2nd day of May 2024, GSK initiative empowered Mrs. Oluwasesan Bosede, a resilient 40-year-old mother of four, with a multipurpose grinding machine, and #5000 for the initial fueling of the grinding machine. Additionally, Oluwasesan Precious who is the first child of the abusive union and now 14-year-old with a promising future received a scholarship to continue her education at Mary Hill Secondary School in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The empowerment program which took place atNo 3, Moferere, beside Agape Church, Ajilosun, Ado Ekiti was graced by representative from the Ministry of Women Affairs Mr T. Oguniyi, Mr Azeez the beneficiary witness, Mrs O. Bosede, and her daughter Precious alongside the staff of the organization.

The presentation of grinding machine and cash to Mrs Abosede and also the scholarship letter along with education materials to Precious was handled by Mr. Oguniyi who stood in as the representative of the honorable commissioner for Women Affairs and social development.

Mrs. Bosede’s journey to the initiative began with a referral from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State. She shared her story on how she suffered domestic violence and assault from her husband, leading to their separation eight years ago. Relocating to Ado Ekiti with her children to live with her own mother, Mrs. Bosede strove relentlessly to provide for her family, with the support of her mother. However, economic hardships made it difficult to sustain their livelihood, forcing her children to discontinue their education for the past two years.

In an attempt to carry out a meaningful intervention, GSKi team carried out a background check on Precious’ academic credentials at Mary Hill Secondary School. Collaborating with the school’s principal, counselor, and bursar, the initiative ensured all necessary academic expenses for Precious were covered, facilitating her seamless return back to school. The initiative’s dedication was evident as they updated Precious’ documentation with the school counselor, solidifying her path to academic success.

GSK Initiative empowerment serves as a Beacon of Hope for Mrs. Oluwasesan Bosede and Oluwasesan Precious.
