In January 2026, Global Support for Kids Initiative (GSKi) carried out a sensitization program across four Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, and Abeokuta, Ogun State. The program was centered on the roles of community actors in protecting children from abuse and promoting collective responsibility at the grassroots level.

The sensitization meetings came up at Grace Community, Ajibamidele in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Olorunsogo Community, Basiri, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as well as Ifesowapo CDA, Bayewun Oluwo, Abeokuta, and Ilupeju Elerin CDA, Alogi, Obantoko, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

During the sensitization meetings, members of the CDAs were educated on the critical roles community actors play in preventing child abuse, identifying early warning signs, and responding appropriately to cases of neglect, exploitation, and violence against children. Emphasis was placed on the importance of collaboration among parents, community leaders, youth groups, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe and supportive environment for every child.

GSKi also encouraged participants to become child ambassadors within their respective communities, advocating for children’s rights and standing up against all forms of abuse wherever they find themselves. The interactive sessions allowed participants to ask questions, share experiences, and discuss practical ways of safeguarding children within their communities.

The sensitization exercise reaffirmed GSKi’s commitment to empowering communities with the knowledge and tools needed to protect children and promote a culture that prioritizes the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child.
