THEME;“INVEST IN GIRLS’ RIGHT: OUR LEADERSHIP, OUR WELL-BEING”

Every 11th of October is set aside to celebrate Girl’s Child from various cultures and across the globe, using the opportunities to call for action from Government, Agencies, and Individuals etc. Also emphasizing on the importance of protecting and promoting the Right of the Girl’s Child in the Society for the development of humanity at large

Global Support for Kids Initiative Nigeria celebrates the strength, resilience and limitless potential of girls around the world as we stand to support and empower every girl, ensuring they grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.

Today, 11th of October 2023, GSK Initiative Nigeria, joins its fellow counterpart around the world to commemorate International Day for Girl’s Child by reaching out the people of Arowolo community, Ajilosun Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to sensitize them about the Day, laying more emphasizes on the Theme for year , which is ” invest in girl’s child right: our leadership, our well-being.

The staff started by sensitizing the people in the community on the importance of girls’ child education being a passport to a brighter future. The staffs further enlightens the residents, parents and potential mothers in the community to ensure that every girl child has access to education, health and a life free from violence and discrimination, stating that girls are the future of any nation when giving the right support in breaking barriers. The staff implores parents and guardians to encourage them to strive beyond their limit. Sighting an example of Dr (Mrs) NGOZI OKONJO IWEALA and ERELU BISI FAYEMI who started well as a girl child and ended up breaking limit.

The staff proceed to shops around the neighbourhood to educate them on the essence of protecting and providing for children especially the Girl Child as the world celebrate Girl’s Child while the Child Rights handbill was given to them, the staff make used of native dialect in (Yoruba language) to pass the information for those who could not read the handbills.

Majority of our audiences were grateful for the enlightenment about the Child’s Right while few say some words of prayers to the staff for a job well done.
